1958-present
Long Lake, NY
Loews Lake
Purchased in 1957 from the Hitchins Corp for $120,000. Purchase consisted of 5200 acres of land and water. Located about 20 miles by road from Long Lake and 25 miles from Tupper Lake. Sabattis Training Center, as it was called then, was opened in 1958 on what is now known as Trout Pond Camp. It was completely under canvass, including the commissary and headquarters facilities. It offered then, as now, a complete primitive camping experience based on basic scouting principals of patrol and unit programs.
