Eagle Bay, NY
1st location:
7th Lake (1923-1926).
2nd location:
Browns Tract Pond (1927-1943)
In order to give the scouts of Syracuse a true Adirondack deep woods experience, in 1923 a camp was established on the north shore of Seventh Lake, near Black Bear Mountain. In 1926 the camp was moved to Brown’s Tract Pond, midway between Eagle Bay and Raquette Lake Village. It’s said the camp was much more primitive than Sabattis. Scout advancement was not stressed too greatly. Awards fell in the camping, cooking, canoeing, rowing, forestry and similar areas. The last season of camping took place in 1943.
