June 29 We will be at Chittenango Landing and hiking/biking is encouraged to or from the Syracuse Erie Canal Weighlock Museum to Chittenango Landing (15 miles) or Cedar Bay (15 miles) or from Chittenango Landing hike the 6.6 miles to Canastota with, perhaps a side trip to Zebs for some ice cream. There is no cost for this program but the museums do ask for donations from the public for admission. The hike and visit to the museum will complete multiple requirements for the award. The medal is only to be earned/awarded to youths ages 10 to 18.
Watch this site for additional information. We are also planning for future events at the Weighlock Museum and hopefully at the Salt Museum at Onondaga Park. We will again have a booth at the Camillus Erie Canal Park & Museum for the Towpath Day the end of summer.

The Erie Canal Historic Trail Award is sponsored by the William Hillcourt Scouting Museum but the award can be earned by any youth age 10 to 18. There is additional information on the museum webpage at https://www.williamhillcourtmuseum.org/ under the news tab.

The Erie Canal Historic Trails program is open to all youths and the general public. The Trail Medal is reserved for youths ages 10 to 18 but the hiking medallion and patch are available to all youths and adults alike. You do not need to be registered with the Scouts to participate or earn the award. Open to all. Prices are as follow and may be ordered from the Longhouse Council, BSA.
The hiking medallion is $5.00, patches are $3.00 and the Trail Medal is $8.50. They may be ordered from the Longhouse Council, BSA
